The hubby got home late Friday night from his week long SnapOn training class. It was a long week for me and the puppies missed him too – a lot.
I put him to work on Saturday helping me move some furniture around and we made some more progress on the unpacking.
Today we woke to Sunshine – beautiful Sunshine – glorious Sunshine. We loaded us and the dogs into the SUV and headed towards the coast.
About an hour south of our new home is a little town called Owls Head. While it’s only a tiny town they do have a lighthouse that dates back to 1826.
The lighthouse is still in operation today as it sits at the entrance of Rockland Harbor on the western side of Penobscot Bay.
And just a couple miles from Owls Head is a small state park called Birch Point.
Luckily the tide was out so there was a lot of beach – if a very small one – to walk on.
It’s the puppies’ first time on a beach. Diamond wasn’t too crazy about the water once she realized it was moving but they all loved the new smells and taking a walk with their dad.
- It was only in the high twenties and a bit breezy so we didn’t stay for very long. And with the sun setting at about 4:30 as we approach the shortest day of the year, the day was over way too soon. But I love the sound of the waves and look forward to summer when this will be a cool place to hang out.
